Peloton Bike Q&A

As most of y’all, we take exercising and fitness very seriously, so when the gyms closed down during the pandemic, we were really trying to figure out ways to stay active. Cue Peloton. The purchase was finally made and it was one of the best purchases EVER. We have the Peloton bike and not kidding when I say that one of us rides this thing everyday. It’s efficient, super easy to use, easy to clean, and doesn’t take up that much space.

The biggest reason why we thought this would be the best stationary bike for us is because not only can you take instructor-led classes or scenic rides with road noise, silence or music, but because you can take an instructor-led mat class.  Mat classes vary from strength training, yoga, pilates, core, HIIT to stretching and meditation.

For price, dimensions and a full list of every class offered, check out the Peloton website.  All of the instructors are amazing and know how to kick your ass and you can see which classes they specifically teach.

I wanted to answer some questions that were sent in and have been asked to give y’all a better idea of what Peloton is like and more about the Peloton bike.

How are the classes?  Do the spin classes have choreography or is it just biking?

I really enjoy the classes and have found myself actually incorporating more of the strength and mat classes into my other days when I go to the gym. There are a variation of rides – climb rides, HIIT and Interval rides, Endurance rides, and warm up/cool down rides. They have a ton of theme rides like, Movie Buff rides, Beyonce rides, and more.

Does it sync with the Apple Watch?

The Peloton mobile app connects with Apple Watch but the tablet app does not.

How’s the music?

The music is out of this world super cool. Like I said up above, they have theme rides like 80’s, 90’s, Rock, Pop, specific artist rides, Movie Buff rides, Country, Rap, EDM, and more. You can’t skip songs but quite honestly you really get into each song that plays because of how the instructors use it. Lastly, there are separate volume controls for the music and coaches, which I really appreciate.

How much is the monthly membership after you buy the bike?

$39 per month for unlimited access to all content. This is truly so affordable and so worth it because of how much you get from the membership.

How often do they upload new workouts?

New workouts are added weekly!

Do you have to have special shoes?

I do have special shoes and you can buy them when you buy your bike if you don’t have a pair already. The shoes are easy to click in and out.

Do you feel like there are enough variety in the classes?

Definitely yes! I feel like there is something new every time I turn on our Peloton.

How long are the classes?

They range from 5-90 minutes with everything in between. They truly have each type of theme and music and style at each of the times.

Can you use other fitness apps on the screen?  For example, take an MYX class using the Peloton?

No.  You can ride with or without a Peloton instructor and with or without music.  The scenic solo rides are in locations like San Francisco, Costa Rica, Northern Italy, Hawaii and so on.  The solo scenic rides offer road noise, music or you can silence both.

Does it track your performance?

The Peloton bike comes with a heart rate monitor that allows you to track your heart rate in every workout. Also, when you create your Peloton account you’ll be asked a series of questions that helps create your custom heart rate zones. Each month Peloton has different competitions you can take part in that helps you keep track of your performance and compete with friends. One thing it does that not many others do is track distance, which I wish I absolutely love.

Who are some of your favorite instructors?

OOOOO this is a good one and it is hard to answer. Most of the classes I’ve taken are from Ally Love and Kendall Toole but I also take a lot of classes with Cody Rigsby, Hannah Frankson, and Tunde Oyeneyin. Truly, you can’t go wrong with any of them.

How long is shipping?

Typical shipping is 4-9 weeks for the Peloton Bike and 6-10 for the Peloton Bike +.

Do y’all have a Peloton? What about any other type of equipment? I hope that helped clarify some of your questions about this particular at-home system. If you have any other questions, please comment those down below and I will answer away. As always, thank y’all for stopping by and reading. I will see y’all back here next time.

Love, Dani
