Learning To Be More Present

How is the start to everyone’s week so far? I am one day closer to school getting ready to start and that just makes me anxious to think about but I am ready–ready for Senior year to finally start and to graduate. Since things at work have been slowing down because it is the end of the season, I have a little bit more free time and have been doing a lot of thinking, especially about being present.

I think being present is something we all really struggle with because we get so wrapped up in our social media and technology that we forget to look up every once in a while and take it all in. If you have been reading my posts for the last couple of weeks you will notice I keep apologizing for being late to post or not posting at all. I realized that me being late for posting isn’t me being lazy, it is me trying to be present in life and trying to balance it all so I don’t go crazy along the way.

If you haven’t noticed, I have been traveling like crazy this summer but I have loved every second of it. I know I vlogged every trip but it made me look and see all the beautiful things around me and step outside my comfort zone to be a little more adventurous, especially in Hawaii! Sitting by the water, taking in a beautiful sunset, being with friends and family, and simply just being still. I feel like when we work ourselves to death and put too much on our plates, we get burned out really fast and forget to pay attention to the things around us.

My advice for everyone, put down the technology and get off social media and instead go outside, have an actual conversation with someone, read a book, take a walk, take pictures with an actual camera, watch a sunrise or sunset. Do the things you normally wouldn’t do in a regular day or even do the things that you have been dying to do for years! Be present because if not you will completely miss everything going on around you and time will really start to fly by.

Love this quote: “You’ll seldom experience regret for anything that you’ve done. It is what you haven’t done that will torment you. The message, therefore, is clear. Do it! Develop an appreciation for the present moment. Seize every second of your life and savor it. Value your present moments. Using them up in any self-defecating ways means you’ve lost them forever.”

How do y’all stay present in your lives? As always thank you for stopping by and reading. I will see y’all back here next time.
