I am back with another house update. I know it has been a while but things have been chaotic as always. I am showing y’all some overall updates all around the house, some before and afters, all the work that has been done, and what is left to still be done. Down below are all the major things we have done in this update and who exactly did them.

Master Bathroom Floor and Closet
Let’s start with the floor. I thought a lot about the floors I wanted to put down in my bathroom. There were two different types of floors in the bathroom and absolutely hated how it looked. So one cohesive flooring was a must. I wanted it to match or be in the same family as the wall color we were using and lighten up the house. Another must was one-size baseboards around the whole house. We had 3 1/2, 4 1/4, and 5 1/2 around the whole downstairs. Home Depot was the place we went to and they coordinated everything from ordering to dropping off materials to scheduling the company to come in to install.
The closet was also a hot mess. There are sloped ceilings so one side is higher than the other. The other mess was there was wire shelving that had to go because it was sticky from the past owners and I would not hang my clothes up until we put a new system in. Again, we went to Home Depot for closet systems and found one that can be moved to how we wanted it to be organized but also have things added based on our needs, like drawers, extra shelves, etc. A total 180 from what was there when we moved in.

Lighting and Fans
Oh lighting! This was probably the easiest decision to make thanks to the window shopping at Home Depot. We love the style of Hampton Bay and they had the perfect type of lighting that we were looking for in terms of 5-light, 3-light, 1-light, etc. We had 3 main places that we wanted to change out lights– Dining Room, Foyer, and Wall Sconce. All of the lights from past owners were different styles and metal types and we knew we wanted black to keep some consistency with the dining and kitchen tables.
Picking fans was easy as well. Much like the lights, there were only 2 existing fans and they were different types and didn’t go with the house at all. We decided on white 3-blade fans and we replaced the fans in the master and my sisters bedroom and added fans to the living room and third bedroom. This really allows us to have more air flow around the entire house. They are just like the brand Big Ass Fans and really churn a lot of air flow.

Dining Room and Kitchen
I had a vision of what I wanted our dining room table to look like and would not stop till I found it. And that was a farm table with a bench that had the ability to sit a lot of people comfortably I searched Facebook Marketplace, Lowes, Wayfair, Ikea, and more. I finally found what I was looking for at Home Depot and it is perfect! It is exactly what I was looking for and has the perfect details from the wood slats on the table to the leaf in the center that lets us expand and make it shorter. When fully expanded, the bench fits perfectly underneath so it doesn’t take up much room. It also comes with 4 other chairs to fit around the rest of the table.
Now for our kitchen. We have this weird area in our kitchen where it is too small to fit a regular kitchen table and too big and awkward to put nothing in it. We settled on a pub style rectangular table that is a little bit more industrial with the combination of metal and wood. It is also black to match the dining room table and all the light fixtures that we put up. This table is really where, when it is just the two of us, eat dinner every night.
