Welcome to the seventh stop on the Half Marathon Bucket List! We recently headed up to Huntington, West Virginia, to run my 15th half marathon and seventh race of this crazy half marathon journey I am on to run one half marathon in each state. Yep, you read that correctly. The seventh one down, 43 to go! And we are not slowing down at all.
We were road-trippin’ for this race up to West Virginia. It is a beautiful time of the year to see all the leaves changing in the fall but the traffic was not fun haha! I chose to run this race in particular because it was hosted by Marshall University and in some sort of fashion we all know the history of Marshall and their football team.
My mom joined me on this trip as my race pit crew and was great to have her there cheering me on. You don’t realize how much of an energy booster that is until you have it. Running through Huntington, West Virginia, was cool because I had explored a lot of West Virginia to begin with. A fairly flatter race than I was expecting, especially since it was in an incredibly mountainous state. My favorite part had to be finishing on Marshall University’s football field with a football in my hand.
I have found I love running in these new places for the first time because I don’t get bored and it’s a new place to explore and take in. I am bringing y’all along for everything race prep, packet pick up, race day, and more!
I am incredibly excited to do this bucket list journey and truly encounter the beauty of each state. Are you a runner? If you are, what is your favorite part of running?
WHAT STATE SHOULD I RUN MY NEXT HALF MARATHON IN?
