Welcome to the sixth stop on the Half Marathon Bucket List! We recently headed down to Battle Creek, Michigan to run my 14th half marathon and sixth race of this crazy half marathon journey I am on to run one half marathon in each state. Yep, you read that correctly. The sixth one down, 44 to go! And we are not slowing down at all.
This race was special because I was running in a state where I had a lot of family and friends that could come and cheer me on. I chose to run this race in particular because it was close to a part of Michigan where I had spent a lot of my childhood. My dad joined me on this trip as my race pit crew and on race day had family throughout the race at different mile markers cheering me on. You don’t realize how much of an energy booster that is until you have it. Running through Battle Creek, Michigan was cool because it was not a part of Michigan I had explored a lot of. The first 6 miles were on the airstrip in Battle Creek and there truly is nothing cooler than running on an airstrip while listening to Top Gun Maverick as you are passing retired F-14s with a sunrise and hot air balloons flying over you. I have found I love running in these new places for the first time because I don’t get bored and it’s a new place to explore and take in. I am bringing y’all along for everything race prep, packet pick up, race day, and more!
I am incredibly excited to do this bucket list journey and truly encounter the beauty of each state. Are you a runner? If you are, what is your favorite part of running?
WHAT STATE SHOULD I RUN MY NEXT HALF MARATHON IN?
