It’s no secret that I adore living in the beautiful city of Raleigh. If you have been a follower of mine for a long time you know my love for food trucks. Boy do I love a good food truck! I’ve lived here my entire life and I have loved getting to know and taste all kinds of different foods right off of a food truck. All of these chefs are incredibly talented and have fresh and out of the box ideas and cuisines. If you’re ever in Raleigh and want to track down some food trucks, these are some of my favorites!

Two Roosters

On the porch of a piedmont farmhouse in North Carolina. That’s where it all started, beneath the watch of Granny’s two black wooden roosters. Neighbors would come over to share bounty from their garden for the next batch and sit a spell. The love, intrigue, and passion for ice cream has bloomed over the years, just like that hand-churned batch of fresh peaches and cream.

454 Grill

Are you ready to be in a little bit of a sandwich heaven? BLT, Breakfast Melt, Carolina Cheesesteak, Buffalo Chicken Melt, Italian Melt, and Marghertia Melt. Are you drooling yet? Because I for sure am! Started by AJ and Eli, two NC natives, 454 Grill Food Truck was created after countless hours and multiple road blocks, they were one day from finalizing their permit when the engine blew. They assembled the troops and in less than 60 working hours they completely rebuilt the entire Chevy 454 Big Block engine (hence the origin of the food truck’s name, 454 Grill).

What started as fondly remembered lunch from 1999–in Switzerland–is now one of the hottest food trucks in the Triangle. Forget about hot dog buns, these sausages come in a freshly baked French baguette along with your sauce of choice deliciously created from ingredients hand-picked from local farmers markets. Baguettaboutit features six flavors of NC-made sausage, choice of eight hand-crafted sauces as well as a vegetarian selection.

The concept behind Pork in the Road is fairly self-explanatory, and there’s no better place for a pork-inspired menu than the second highest pork-producing state in the nation. There will be a few pork substitutes for our kosher and vegetarian friends out there, but rest assured, bacon and all of the other wonderful parts of the pig, will find their way into most every recipe.

Flattz Signature Flat Bread Sandwiches

Flattz’ specialty is flatbread sandwiches with fillings that are as eclectic as is the owner’s background. Chef Tony roams the culinary globe, from his native South to Asia and the Mediterranean, for inspiration for flatbread fillers. These he piles generously onto a foundation of roghani naan, an Indian bread that falls somewhere between the more familiar tandoori naan and pita bread, in texture. Dont let the flatbread fool you. It’s Not Pizza! It’s much better.
